The biology
Spinning autologous blood concentrates platelets several-fold above baseline. On degranulation they release PDGF, TGF-beta, VEGF and EGF, which recruit fibroblasts and stimulate collagen and angiogenesis.
Where the evidence is strongest
Androgenetic alopecia and skin quality show the most consistent published benefit; volume replacement is not what PRP does.
Counselling patients honestly
Expect three sessions four weeks apart, gradual change over three months, and maintenance. Patients who are promised a facelift will be disappointed.
